Iron sharpens iron
Our founder, William Orr (pictured far right) was a Tank Commander in the U.S. Marine Corps for 15 years, before becoming a Warrant Officer, specializing in chemical and biological weapons defense. Seeing to the readiness of people, both in personal matters and in technical skill became his specialty. After 21 years in uniform and several combat deployments, William decided to retire and bring his spirit of service back home.
Just as a Marine might need to keep his or her fighting skills sharp, the need to focus on financial readiness cannot be overstated.
Becoming the Veteran CFO
William was turned on to personal finance through a series of events--notwithstanding a desire to break the bonds of poverty in his own family--as well as seeing fellow Marines struggle with financial matters.
William came across Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover© while on a deployment to Iraq and could not put the book down. He implemented Dave's practices and experienced great success. Fellow Marines began to notice and sought William's counsel.
